1929 - 2015

William Strassel

William P. Strassel passed away Saturday February 21, 2015 in Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport. Born in Lockport, New York on July 12, 1929, he was the son of the late William P. Jr. and Alice M. (nee Curtis) Strassel.

Bill attended Lockport Senior High School, served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1952, and continued his education graduating from SUNY Canton. He worked at Harrison Radiator, Division of General Motors, for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as an HVAC Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion B. Leo Dolan Post 410, Elks Club, Niagara County Historical Society, Olcott and Wilson Yacht Clubs, and a past member of the Tuscarora Club.

Bill enjoyed playing baseball, softball, racquetball, boating, and teaching his grandchildren to fish. William appreciated spending time and socializing with his many dedicated friends. He and his loving wife Sharon enjoyed a fulfilling retirement spending eighteen years in Bradenton, Florida, before returning to Lockport.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon (nee Stranges) Strassel of Lockport; father of Mark (Alicia Pettine) Strassel of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and Gregg (Terri) Strassel of Lockport; grandfather of Danielle, Gianna, Maxwell and Matthew Strassel; brother in-law of Gary (Susan) Stranges and Wayne (Suzanne) Secord. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his brothers, Donald Strassel and James E. (Susan) Strassel.
